Millions of visitors a year come to Arizona’s Grand Canyon National Park, one of the seven natural wonders of the world and the most visited national park in the western United States. However, on extremely rare days when cold air is trapped in the canyon and topped by a layer of warm air, which in combination with moisture and condensation, form the phenomenon referred to as the full cloud inversion. In what resembles something between ocean waves and fast clouds, Grand Canyon is completely obscured by fog, making the visitors feel as if they are walking on clouds.
This video was filmed as part of SKYGLOW (skyglowproject.com), an ongoing crowdfunded quest to explore the effects and dangers of urban light pollution in contrast with some of the most incredible dark sky areas in North America. This project is being produced in collaboration with International Dark-Sky Association (darksky.org), a non-profit fighting for the preservation of night skies around the globe. […]

Monsoon III (4K)

If you asked the average person, many would characterize this summer’s monsoon as a down season. Not a lot of storms overall and it seemed generally more quiet. And in many ways it actually was a slower season. All told I chased about 36 days for this film, which was less than the 48 in 2015. We had an early start in late June, and then it was dead for almost three weeks. When I looked back and realized I chased 12 less days…yeah, it definitely had less action than normal.
But to a storm chaser, none of this really means anything. Sure there were days when nothing was remotely possible to chase, but most of the time the monsoon can be found in the far corners of the state even when Phoenix and Tucson are dry as a bone. […]
Lozzo di Cadore: time lapse estemporanei ripresi nel 2016 ‘ntorno ciasa’
Blog, Video paesaggi-di-lozzo, timelapse, video
Nikon in Space: time-lapse view of the world | Nikon 100th Anniversary
Blog, Video iss, spazio, video, video-extra
Nikon’s history in Space began with the Nikon Photomic FTN, a modified Nikon F camera that was used aboard the Apollo 15 in 1971 and Nikon cameras have been aboard every manned space flight since. This film, edited by SmugMug Films, is a compiled time-lapse video using thousands of still images. The bright flashes are lightning strikes hitting the earth, watch and enjoy.
This is the first of many remarkable moments, both big and small, which we will be sharing in the lead up to Nikon 100th Anniversary! Stay tuned for more. :)
